Step 3: Choose Your Cake Size
The size of cake you need depends upon how many people you want to serve. For parties, cake piece sizes are generally 2 inches x 2 inches. Wedding cake servings are usually smaller and around 1 inch x 2 inches. Square wedding cakes are easy to cut, however cutting a round wedding cake is a little different.

How to Cut a Round Wedding Cake
To cut a round wedding cake, move in two inches from the outer edge. Cut a circle and then slice 1-inch pieces within the circle. Next, move in another 2 inches, cut another circle, slice 1-inch pieces, and so on until the cake tier is completely cut. The center core can be cut into 3rds, 4ths, and 6ths, depending upon the size of the cake.
